Hybrid Training

Training for Environmental Damage Prevention

Integrated Online, Virtual and Practical Training

Akela has comprehensive training expertise in oil spill response, effectively combining digital pedagogy with practical training methods. We offer a cost-effective professional oil spill responder basic course designed specifically for the training needs of rescue services.

How It Works

Our hybrid training model designed for rescue services is primarily based on self-study in an online course format. The training can be delivered at minimal cost. At the same time, the rescue service ensures that every person who completes the course has the necessary knowledge and practical skills to perform oil spill response tasks as effectively as possible.

Akela maintains the hybrid course training materials and assignments to match the current needs, job descriptions, and risk assessments of each rescue service and its trainees — covering potential damage scenarios and their response measures.

Training for Fire Brigades

Fire services are generally adequately equipped to deal with smaller oil spills. However, in order to carry out their duties in oil spills as effectively as possible and to keep environmental damage as low as possible, every firefighter should be able to receive appropriate basic training.

What We Have Achieved

In Finland, the emergency services in Pirkanmaa, Lapland and Central Finland have already put our hybrid oil spill response course to good use. Feedback from fire departments and trainees alike is very positive.

"The training provides good basic information and benefits the oil spill response readiness of all Lapland region. The hybrid model offers our firefighters a flexible and cost-effective way to acquire the necessary skills."
— Fire Chief Jyri Keränen
